Stretch Ceilings
Translucent stretch ceilings create seamless illuminated surfaces by forming a continuous architectural membrane across a space. Installed as part of the building fabric, they are designed to work in conjunction with integrated backlighting systems to deliver large scale, uniform illumination.
Unlike framed lighting features, stretch ceilings are tensioned on site to create uninterrupted light surfaces with no visible joints or segmentation. This makes them ideal for achieving clean, continuous ceilings and expansive illuminated features where visual consistency is critical.
Illumination is provided by Applelec Light Engines, tailored to suit each project and ensure consistent performance, uniform light distribution and full specification alignment.
Key features
Seamless illuminated surfaces
Create smooth, continuous light ceilings and feature areas without visible joints or segmentation.
Uniform light diffusion
Even distribution of light across the surface, delivering consistent illumination and refined visual finish.
Flexible design integration
Designed to integrate into architectural schemes, enabling bespoke ceiling and feature applications.
Engineered system compatibility
Developed to work as part of a complete system with Applelec Light Engines, ensuring performance and specification alignment.

Defined architectural features
Stretch ceiling systems are typically used to create seamless illuminated surfaces across ceilings and architectural features. Installed using a perimeter track, the material is tensioned on site to form a smooth, continuous light emitting surface with no visible joins or frames.
Where required, systems can also be configured into defined sections or bespoke features. This allows stretch to be applied across columns, bulkheads, coffers and feature elements, maintaining consistent light output while responding to the architectural design.
This flexibility enables both large scale continuous ceilings and more detailed feature applications to be achieved within the same system.
Designed for performance and scale
Stretch ceiling systems are engineered for projects requiring uniform illumination across large areas. The material provides high light transmission and diffusion, ensuring an even, consistent output when paired with Applelec Light Engines.
Key performance benefits include:
-
Uniform light distribution across large surfaces
-
Suitable for panel sizes up to 50m²
-
High light transmission and reflectance
-
Fire rated to Euroclass B-s2, d0 (Class 0 UK)
-
Vapour barrier capability where required
-
100% recyclable material
-
10 year manufacturer guarantee for colour fastness and seams
This makes the system particularly effective for applications where visual consistency and scale are critical.

Integrated system approach
Stretch ceilings are not standalone products, they are installed as part of a wider system. Lighting, structure and surface are considered together to ensure the final result performs as intended.
Illumination is delivered using Applelec Light Engines, tailored to suit each project and material requirement. This ensures controlled, uniform backlighting and alignment with the overall specification.
The system is installed on site, allowing it to adapt to the realities of the space while maintaining a clean, refined finish.
Printed stretch ceilings
Printed stretch ceilings extend the system into a decorative solution, allowing graphics, textures or imagery to be integrated directly into illuminated surfaces.
Used in conjunction with backlighting, they create feature ceilings and visual focal points while maintaining the same seamless finish and system performance.

"BrightLINE from Applelec Lighting was the ideal system for this project as the lightboxes were exceptionally shallow at just 60mm depths. The slim LED solutions fitted perfectly within the challenging location, and achieved a flawless finish for the faux window designs. The system couldn’t have been easier to fit, with Applelec Lighting pre-mounting the BrightLINE solutions ready for an extremely quick installation."
